Poplar River

Poplar River flows about 10 miles (16km) over four rapids before reaching the largest rapids in the area. It has many feeder creeks, sunken reefs, and bays of cabbage-weeds. Average depths are 10′ to 15′ (3-4.5m) with the deepest waters at 24 feet (7m). Guests have no trouble catching shore lunch in a hurry at this outpost. You’ll want to bring lots of power baits and twister tails here as the appetites of the Northern Pike and Walleye seem to be working overtime. Walleye average 18″-22″ (46-56cm) and Northern Pike average 27″-37″ (69-92cm), with many master anglers. You can portage into one other lake where a boat and motor are provided.
